In Memory of James Slover
James Slover's obituary was posted recently, for those of you who missed it, and mentions his love of Rotary.
James was given a Rotary Lifetime Achievement award on Thursday, August 27th. A number of his friends from the Rotary Club of Topeka South joined us for that meeting.
A few Rotarians have asked about services for James, arrangements are pending. Friends are planning a social distanced open house, and Rotarians will be notified. Stay tuned.
Invitation to RC Guadalajara meeting
As Kevin Learned noted the Rotary Club of Guadalajara is meeting next Tuesday evening, 9/22, 5 pm, and have invited Rotary Club of Boise members to attend via zoom.  Folks who would like to participate should reach out to Kevin for details.
Notes From the September 3 Club Meeting
Introduction of New Member - Andy Erstad introduced his friend, Boise developer Mike Talbott as a prospective member. Mike has turned in his paperwork for membership to the Rotary Club of Boise. Welcome Mike!
Rotary service projects
About a dozen Rotarians were on hand for the City of Good and Boise Farmer's Market distribution the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.

The event was so popular, we'll be doing it again Saturday, October 3rd for one of their 3-hour shifts between 6 am and 1:30 pm (friends and family over 16 are welcome).

Sign up here and show up to receive training in safely delivering meals to folks who need it on behalf of The Boise Farmer's Market which is partnering with City of Good (a nonprofit created by Boise businesses and civic organizations to feed those who are isolated or in need in our community) to distribute meals and farmer's market produce on Saturday mornings through the end of the year.

Planting Peace

For another opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors with our Rotary friends and family, after all the Zoom meetings and political upheaval, we will put aside our differences and loss and PLANT PEACE!
Enjoy the great outdoors, AND help the City of Boise restore critical wildlife habitat by transplanting native shrubs from our canceled spring planting to their permanent home between the Boise River and Willow Lane Athletic Complex.  Choose a date & time that works for you and your family:
·         Sat, Nov 7, 10 am - 1 pm,
·         Sun, Nov 8, 10 am-noon, or
·         Sun, Nov 8, 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

Happy Dollars last week were dedicated to Polio Plus.
Rourke O'Brien was happy for a visit from his son, Michael, from Seattle.  It's the 8th visit in two years.

Andy Erstad  is happy his good friend Mike Talbott is joining the club, and delighted to have the Mayor speaking to us today.

Dick Smith was happy for a busy weekend in which his daughter who lives in Maine bought a home. They had to buy quickly because homes are selling fast there!

Mike Talbott was happy to match Andy's pledge, and is grateful to Andy for his courtesy.

Russell Strader is happy that his friends and family in southern Oregon are safe from the wildfires.

Steve Popish is happy to have his daughter and her boyfriend visit.  The boyfriend asked for her hand, so there may a wedding in the near future!

Jeff Leedy is happy to get a phone call from his former Little Brother (Big Brothers Big Sisters program).  It's been 35 years since Jeff saw him last.  He is now a Supervising Nurse and doing well.

Last Week's Program
Our speaker last week Boise Mayor Lauren McLean.
Information About Your Membership Invoice
While we are meeting remotely, we will continue to include the standard meal charge of $77.34 in our bi-monthly invoices, only now it will be called "community benefit," to reflect where the money is really going. When we cannot meet over meals, your payment helps us keep our lease on the meeting room and storage space, and also benefits our community (most of our meals are donated to Interfaith Sanctuary). This all enables a seamless return to our in-person meetings once it is safe.
For those who continue to pay for this community benefit thank you.
If you are not able to catch a live zoom meeting, email for a link to a recording of the meeting later.
