Rotary Meetings Cancelled through April 14, 2020
Fellow Rotarians,
Club meetings & events have been canceled or postponed through April 14th.  However, the CDC’s recommendation has just been updated to 8 weeks, so it’s very likely our break may extend into May.  Updates will be posted in the Boisetarian & at
The Century Scholars Banquet scheduled for April 14th has also been canceled.  However, we still wish to celebrate these deserving students & teachers by producing an insert for the Idaho Statesman as we have in prior years.  And we hope to deliver medals & certificates to their schools before the end of the school year, if possible.
The Board is in discussions of how to apply money allocated to the caterers to both help sustain the caterers through the crisis and to make sure the food itself goes to a worthy cause.  We will update you regularly on this and other issues either through emails or the Boisetarian.
Yours in Rotary,
President Kevin
Last Week's Program
Happy Dollars
The beautiful weather made for many happy Rotarians including Verne Gentry, Ryan Erstad and Karl Kurtz.  Karl was especially happy for returning from a trip to Thailand and Bali, and especially for not bringing any viruses back with him!
Outstanding Students
We were once again visited by two outstanding students, Ms. Caitlin Moorhouse from Frank Church High School and Ms. Darby O'Connor from Capital High School.
Caitlin Moorhouse is being recognized for both her academic studies and her contributions to the community.  In her spare time she works with other students to create homeless packs, which they hand out during their lunch breaks to those in need.  She was also involved with the Stuff the Bus project to help less fortunate students with their school supply needs. Caitlin is a member of the International Honors Society.  She plans on attending Boise State University to obtain a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Caitlin is also a Rotary Century Scholar.  Well done Caitlin, and congratulations!
Darby O'Connor is being recognized for her academic achievements as well as her athleticism.  She has been taking AP level classes in high school, is involved in many church activities, volunteers to help others and mentors elementary students.   In her spare time, she is a member of 5 clubs at the high school, and runs track and cross country!  Her academic goals are to either attend Pepperdine University to study broadcasting and journalism, or Boise State University to study journalism.  Well done Darby, and Congratulations!
The world will be in fine hands with young people like these!

Guest Speaker
HennaLore Hein, State Historian, Idaho State Historical Society
In continued celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th amendment, we invited HannaLore Hein to speak with us about the history of the women's movement, and more specifically about Idaho's involvement.  HannoLore gave a fantastic presentation on the women's suffrage movement from the days before Abigail Adams through the turn of the century and the passage of the 19th amendment.  Interesting to note that Idaho was the 4th state to adopt voting rights for women. To learn more about the history of Idaho, visit the Idaho State Historical Society's web site at:
