Happy Dollars from the July 9 Club Meeting
Ken Howell had $20 happy dollars. PolioPlus now at $49.2mm and counting and likely to pass the $50mm hurdle to qualify for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation match.
Rourke O’Brien matched Ken's contribution.
Todd Fischer had $10 happy dollars and noted that he is currently celebrating his anniversary with Karry Fischer, not with himself, but since his ClubRunner record was incorrect, that's what showed up in the auto populated field of last week's Boisetarian. He has since corrected his profile (please remember to check yours!).
Beth Markley was $10 happy to see Karen Lansing on the call; due to some changes within ClubRunner, our emails to her were getting blocked and she hadn't been getting meeting notices.
Karen Lansing was $20 happy to be able to rejoin meetings.
Our guest speaker, Troy McClain, committed $100. He is happy to be at Rotary, because “the best way to get ahead is to give back”
Vern Gentry committed $110 to the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation, the sum of the birthday and rotary anniversary he is celebrating in July.
Paul Harris Fellows

President Beth congratulated the latest Paul Harris Fellow honorees:
  • David Riffe
  • James Bedal +2
  • Dave Silva +1
  • Donna Day Jacobs +2
  • Mary Monroe +2
Polio Plus Update
Todd Fischer shared an update on the Rotary Club of Boise's efforts to raise funds for Polio Plus, as well as a video update on Rotary's efforts overall. In total, our club raised 141% of our annual goal, or $6,325.
Last Week's Program
On Thursday, July 9, former Apprentice contestant and entrepreneur Troy McClain presented on How to Build Culture in the New Virtual Workspace, and retraining the brain to adapt to changing situations. Among the key takeaways:
  • Don't let needing to get it done perfectly get in the way of getting it done.
  • In times like these, remember: Your plans may change, but your objective stays the same.
A recording of the meeting will be available until 7/14 at this link.
Information About Reopening
While Idaho is now in Phase 4 of its reopening plan, Ada County has been bumped back to Phase 3.  We had hoped to resume in-person/zoom hybrid meetings at the Crystal Ballroom on June 25th for Changing of the Guard, with strenuous safety protocols in place, but a recent spike in COVID cases county-wide forced us to revert back to an online meeting for the annual changing of the guard.
For now, we will continue with remote meetings until further notice. If you are not able to catch a live meeting, email for a link to a recording of the meeting later.
