Notes From the February 11th Club Meeting
Happy Dollars

Paul Schmidt was happy that Jeff Leedy's knee replacement surgery was highly successful, and noted that Jeff is having a big birthday. Happy Birthday Jeff!
Dirk Manley was happy to see Rotary forming a group on the new social media app "Clubhouse"
Beth Markley was happy to have attended Mike's club meeting featuring Mayor Lauren McLean, who mentioned OUR club's success transitioning to virtual meetings and use of breakout chatrooms to start meetings

Visiting Rotarians and Guests

  • Rourke O'Brien introduced his guest Melinda McCutcheon
Last Week's Program
Rourke introduced Pat Pyke, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Silver Sage Council, who updated us about the state of Girl Scouting in Southern Idaho, Eastern Oregon and Northern Nevada. Currently the counsel is in the middle of their annual cookie sale, which helps fund camp maintenance and volunteer services and helps the girls earn money for their projects and plans. Cookies can be purchased online or contact free at local booth sales (more information at their website). Pat spoke of the Girl Scout badge and award programs that help girls build skills, she spoke of the place for Girl Scout programs with research specific to girls and girl development, and talked about how girls have served their communities throughout history through Girl Scouting.

Rotary Good Will and Better Friendships Tour

Interested in checking out another club, whether in person (if anyone is doing that) or virtually? Become a part of the District 5400 Good Will and Better Friendships Tour! You'll get a passport and goodies. Clubs with the most participation in other clubs, clubs that collaborate the most, or win the most visitors, with prizes at the Rotary District Conference!

Email President Beth to get your passport and more information, then prepare to visit other clubs (maybe even a .... Breakfast Club?).

Have you missed a meeting because you can't find the zoom link? It's the same from week to week. Put it in your recurring calendar listing so it's handy!
As always, if possible, please name your profile and consider turning on your video while in the meeting. It helps us ensure security (no Zoom bombers), and helps you engage with your fellow Rotarians.
IMPORTANT NOTE: For prospective members who sign up while we're meeting remotely, the club will waive the one-time membership fee and the community benefit charge (which, while we're meeting remotely, supports meals for Interfaith Sanctuary), email Membership Chair Richard Davey for more details.
More About Your Membership
While we are meeting remotely, we will continue to include the standard meal charge of $77.34 in our bi-monthly invoices, only now it will be called "community benefit," to reflect where the money is really going. When we cannot meet over meals, your payment helps us keep our lease on the meeting room and storage space, and also benefits our community (most of our meals are donated to Interfaith Sanctuary). This all enables a seamless return to our in-person meetings once it is safe.
For those who continue to pay for this community benefit thank you.
If you are not able to catch a live zoom meeting, email for a link to a recording of the meeting later.
