Bell Ringing
Friday, December 20th
11:30am
Hoff Building Lobby

This dapper gent, Mr. Tom Stitzel, is leading our Salvation Army efforts this season.  We're still looking for ringers!

At last count, we've raised $3,294 in red kettle donations.  Let's finish strong this week!  Please drop cash or check into a red kettle at our Christmas party.

And on Friday, bundle up & stretch your bell-ringing arm.  It's going to be a great afternoon on the streets of downtown Boise.

Christmas Gift Ideas

Know someone who is difficult to shop for?  We have the perfect gift.  Go to firkinfrolic.org to buy tickets for only $15/each!  This early bird price expires after Santa finishes his deliveries.

This is limited edition beer brewed exclusively for this event.  All net proceeds support our club's many service projects.

Are you enjoying our Funday Sunnies?

Jeff Leedy, our resident fine art humorist, is offering to donate to our Rotary Foundation, 50% of Rotary members sales on any print(s) ordered on his web site.
This offer is good thru 12/31.

Lunch Program
December 12th

Guests

Lori Fascilla, Executive Director of Giraffe Laugh, visited last week.  Giraffe Laugh was recently awarded a $20,000 grant from the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation.  WOW!

Corbyn Cools was a guest of Ryan Erstad.

Meagan Ellis of the YMCA is a prospective member & guest of David Riffe.

Assistant District Governor Mike Markley was in attendance.

Happy Dollars

This week's Happy Dollars went to the Salvation Army.  Diane Minnich was happy for the Boise High School Choir, in which her daughter is a member.  Ron Gambassi & Chuck Clark paid up on their sports wagers.  Vern Gentry mentioned a "cell phone ringing during Rotary" incident with Tom Stitzel.  Laurie Zuckerman was happy for Ken Howell's considerable work in Rotary.  And Jerry Schroeder was impressed by the Boise High School Choir's performance....$1 happy.

This Week's Mystery Rotarian

Your clues:
  1. After studying Civil Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo for three years, this Rotarian graduated with a B.A. and later M.A. in ministry.
  2. Our mystery Rotarian wrote a book that was published by Sheed and Ward.
  3. This Rotarian built a system that irrigates their family's fruit trees with their grey water.
Answer:  Laurie Zuckerman!  Laurie has developed numerous environmental programs for District 5400.  Her seedling planting events have attracted hundreds of volunteers & earned considerable press coverage to the benefit of Rotary clubs throughout the Treasure Valley.

Our Program: Mr. David Burton & the Boise High School Choir

President Kevin is always impressed with our club's singing & thought this week presented a great opportunity for a "sing-off" against the Boise High School Choir.  Led by Bill Agler & Jerry Schroeder, our members belted out a spirited rendition of
R-O-T-A-R-Y.

The 40 choir students appeared to be impressed....or at least entertained.  They responded with several pitch-perfect Christmas carols led by Mr. Burton, much to the delight of our members.

Those in attendance were treated to an incredible performance.  President Kevin, who is both a Rotarian & Boise High grad, declared the Boise High School Choir winners of our sing-off.  Maybe we'll try again next year.

The music continues in our first meeting of the new decade on 1/9/20 as we welcome acclaimed conductor Robert Franz & two violinists.  You'll want to be there!

No meetings on December 26th & January 9th.
