Craig Foss – Idaho’s Forests

 

Craig Foss is the State Forester and Division Administrator – Forestry & Fire for the Idaho
Department of Lands (IDL). Craig earned a B.S. in Geology at the University of North Dakota,
and M.S. in Forest Resources at the University of Idaho. Craig has more than thirty years of
experience leading and administering diverse forestry programs. He has been with IDL since
1995, serving in various capacities including Forestry Assistance Bureau Chief, and Division
Administrator, Forestry & Fire position. He was named State Forester in February 2020. In his current position, Craig oversees the Fire Management, Private Forestry Assistance and Good Neighbor Authority Bureaus for IDL. He also oversees the Idaho Shared Stewardship Initiative. Craig and his wife Jill reside in Rathdrum, Idaho.
