Matt Johansen M.S. LCPC-Impact of Social Media on Mental Health
As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over fifteen years of experience as a
behavioral health therapist, Matt has dedicated his career to helping those who reside in the
community where he was born and raised. As the Clinical Director of an outpatient behavioral
health clinic serving diverse populations, Matt recognized the growing need for more
comprehensive and readily available mental health services for children and adolescents.
This passion for supporting the child and adolescent populations in Idaho led Matt to join the
leadership team that successfully opened a state-of-the-art 90-bed inpatient psychiatric facility
in Meridian. It was at this facility where Matt developed and expanded adolescent-focused
Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs that were previously not available in Idaho. With the
introduction of IOP programs to the mental healthcare system of Idaho, adolescents finally had
access to an intensive form of treatment designed to prevent hospitalization or prevent the re-
hospitalization of those who were recently discharged. The launching of these evidence-based
services expanded access to psychiatric services for an underserved population and set a new
standard for patient-centered care in the region.
