HannaLore Hein-“A History of Harris Ranch: How an Entrepreneurial Vision Transformed a Rural Idaho Valley into an Innovative Urban Community.”

HannaLore Hein graduated magna cum laude from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in May 2011 with a BA in History and Ethnic Studies. She earned her MA in Applied Historical Research from Boise State University in 2015. While at Boise State University, HannaLore also participated in a year-long internship with Stevens Historical Research Associates (SHRA). She was an inaugural Boise State University’s Venture College member, where she networked and developed entrepreneurial and business skills. After graduation, she joined SHRA as a research historian. In 2016, she assumed the position of Director of Business Development with SHRA. HannaLore retained these two roles with SHRA until August 2019, when she resigned to assume the position of Idaho State Historian with the Idaho State Historical Society.

As Idaho State Historian, HannaLore serves on the agency’s leadership team and assists in making strategic decisions for the agency. She is a content resource for Idaho’s executive and legislative branches of government on topics related to Idaho history; assists in the agency’s interpretive analysis, ensuring historical accuracy in programs, exhibitions, and collateral; and authors articles for various media channels, academic journals, and other publications. In 2020, she co-led the agency’s efforts for Idaho Women 100, a year-long, statewide initiative commemorating and celebrating the history of women’s suffrage in Idaho. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, she connected the health crisis to historic public health emergencies in Idaho. She is currently co-leading efforts to organize the state’s commemoration for the semiquencentenial, also known as America250, of the American Revolution in 2026.
