David Cornell – Road Scholar Ambassador

David Cornell was born and raised in Minnesota’s twin cities, St. Paul,
and Minneapolis, MN. Developing early interests in music and science,
he became a pianist and amateur radio operator at an early age —
interests that he pursues actively today. He loved school and achieved
academic achievement awards in high school and College. Following his
College mentor’s example, he attended the University of California,
Berkeley, where he graduated with the Ph.D. in physics. Also at
Berkeley he met and married his first wife, Linda. They had two
daughters that maintain households in the states of Washington and
Arizona.

David’s professional career has been devoted largely to
teaching about modern uses of power that are safe and
environmentally sustainable. His talk, “Modern Power for the Future”,
was presented here for this Rotary Club in early 2023. He is pleased to
have adopted Boise as his permanent home, having married a Boise
native after the passing of his first wife. He is grateful to have been
invited to join Rotary in his newly adopted city.
