
Sara Bruner- Producing Artistic Director: “Taking on Shakespeare”
Sara Bruner is the Producing Artistic Director for Great Lakes Theater, Idaho Shakespeare Festival and Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, leading all three companies through a one-of-a-kind, nationally recognized producing model. A visionary arts leader, she brings exceptional expertise in organizational growth, budgeting, contract negotiation, fundraising, audience development and educational programming. In 2024, Sara was appointed to the President’s Council for the Arts and Humanities in recognition of her national impact on the arts, and in 2025, she represented the consortium internationally at the Shakespeare Theatre Association conference.
A recipient of the 2018 Princess Grace Award, Sara draws on nearly 25 years of professional theater
experience, including five seasons with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. She holds an Executive MBA from Boise State University, where she also teaches communication strategy and executive presence in the Executive MBA program. A committed advocate for LGBTQ+ representation and mentorship, Sara continues to shape a more inclusive, forward-thinking future for the American theater.
