The Rotary Club of Boise has pledged its support for an upcoming Rotary Global Grant focused on Natural Farming for Sustainable Agriculture for Tribal Populations in Maharashtra, India. This project aims to improve livelihoods, restore soil health, and strengthen food security for more than 300 tribal farming families across 34 villages.
With a total project budget of nearly $90,000, the initiative is being led internationally by the Rotary Club of Ajijic, Mexico, with local implementation by the Rotary Club of Ambernath Industrial Area and the Om Gagangiri Maharaj Ashirwadit Trust (OMGMT). While Boise has committed its support, the project partners are still gathering additional pledges to fully fund the grant. Once all commitments are secured, the Global Grant application will be submitted.
The project will train tribal farmers in low-cost, chemical-free natural farming methods using locally available materials. In addition to improving soil health and reducing input costs, the program emphasizes entrepreneurship, market access, and cultural preservation—helping farmers increase income while strengthening community resilience.
Through its international service commitment, the Rotary Club of Boise is proud to support this collaborative effort that promotes sustainable agriculture, healthier communities, and long-term economic opportunity for tribal populations in India.
