Meet Rachel “Rae” Shubin, a passionate and dedicated member of the Boise Downtown Rotary Club. With a commitment to both her professional life and community service, Rae exemplifies the Rotary spirit in all that she does.
Professional Pursuits
Rae serves as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, where she helps clients navigate their financial futures with confidence and clarity. Her role as an advisor allows her to connect deeply with individuals, providing personalized strategies to help them achieve their financial goals.
Family and Personal Life
Rae and her husband share their home with a menagerie of pets: two dogs and two cats. Currently, they are going through the difficult process of saying goodbye to their oldest dog, Theanie. This tough time highlights Rae’s compassionate nature and the close bond she shares with her pets.
Journey with Rotary
Rae’s connection to Rotary began in high school through a friend’s encouragement to participate in a Rotary Exchange program. This early experience left a lasting impression on her, fostering a lifelong appreciation for Rotary’s mission and values. The sense of global community and the opportunities it presented have stayed with her ever since.
Engagement with Rotary
At this point in her life, Rae is driven by a desire to make a positive impact on her community and to help usher in the next generation of Rotarians. She recognizes the importance of diversifying the club’s membership to ensure its vitality and relevance in a changing world. Rae is particularly concerned about the loss of “third spaces”—places where people can gather and connect outside of home and work. She has seen the effects of this loss in her own circles, leading to increased isolation and loneliness among younger adults. Rae believes that organizations like Rotary can provide much-needed community and connection, which is essential for a healthy society.
Contributions to Rotary
While Rae values local community outreach, her true passion lies in fostering global connections. She attributes her incredible start to adulthood to the opportunities provided by Rotary and is dedicated to helping young people realize their potential through similar experiences. By promoting and supporting Rotary’s global initiatives, Rae aims to create opportunities for the next generation to experience the world and make meaningful contributions.
